My heart and prayers have been with the people of China during this time of sickness in their country. For Christmas, my husband gave me tickets to see the Chinese dance production Shen Yun. It was an entertaining night of beautifully choreographed dancing. There was no photography allowed during the show, so I purchased the souvenir postcards. As I was enjoying the postcards, I couldn’t help but think of the fear and suffering going on in their beautiful country as the Coronavirus continues to spread. I was moved to create some of my own cards inspired by the dances and costumes of Shen Yun.

My favorite dance of the night was called “Water Sleeves”. To create this card, I used:

- Ranger Mermaid Lagoon Distress ink: for the background
- Hero Arts Water droplets stencil: for the background
- Heartfelt Creations Water Lily and Lily Pads stamps and dies (no longer available)
- American Crafts Silver Zing embossing powder: for flowers and lily pads
- Ranger Peacock Feathers Distress ink: for lily pads
- Hero Arts Sea Glass ink: for lily pads
- Colorbox Chalk Berrylicious ink: for flowers
- white glitter enamel dots: for background
- Stamps of Life double layer “I love you” dies: for sentiment

My second card was inspired by the dance “Yellow Blossoms” . For this I used:

- Ranger Dylusions Leafy stencil: for background
- Hero Arts Lime Green and Forest inks: for background
- Brushed gold and white cardstock” For background and sentiment
- 1 Sheet of Heartfelt Creations Wildwood Cottage patterned paper: for circle layers

The third card was from a dance called “Fairies of the Clouds”. It was performed in the 2019 Shen Yun show. For this card I used:

- Heartfelt Creations Paisley Peacock stamps and dies (no longer available)
- Colorbox white pigment ink: for background
- Inky Antics cloud stencil: for the background
- Momento Bahama Blue ink: for background
- American Crafts Silver Zing embossing powder: for peacock and feathers
- Colorbox Canary ink: for peacock and feathers

- Heartfelt Creations Celebrate Love Sentiments Cling Stamps “Congrats” stamps
- Lawn Fawn Fine white embossing powder: for sentiment
- Versamark Watermark ink pad: for sentiment, peacock, and feathers
- Brushed Silver and white cardstock
The final card in this set is from the “Fan Dance”. I used:

- 1 sheet of Heartfelt Creations Blazing Poppy patterned paper: for card layers and sentiment
- 1 sheet of Heartfelt Creations Under the Sea patterned paper: for card background layers
- Heartfelt Creations Frame a Card Leafy Border Dies Corner Die: for Golden Fan pieces (this die just cuts into the paper, I had to trim the edges to make individual fan pieces.)
- Crafters Companion Flower Stencil: for Top layer of card
- Hero Arts Lime Green and Forest ink: for stenciling
- The Stamp Markets Melon ink: for stenciling
- Brushed gold cardstock
- Scotch Foam Tape: to raise top layer

Though I have never been to China or had a particular interest in the ancient culture, I really enjoyed the Shen Yun production. I recommend seeing the show if you have opportunity and continue to pray for healing for all those whose lives have been touched by the Coronavirus. In the meantime, stay healthy and have fun crafting.
These are beautiful!
